Terminator experiences Salvation: T4 is comming.

Yesterday, a blog from Dark Horizons has word of a fourth Terminator movie in the works.

Michael Fleming (Vairety):

Warner Bros. has acquired North American distrib rights to “Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins,” triggering an early 2008 production start for a film that seeks to reinvent the cyborg saga with a storyline to be told over a three-pic span.

WB plans to distribute “Terminator Salvation” in summer 2009.

“The Phantom Menace” part deux? After the debacle that was T3, and the upcoming “Sarah Conner Chronicles” series, one has to wonder if the Terminator franchise as any high-powered ammo left. Also, seeking to “reinvent the cyborg saga” may turn away hardcore fans of T1 and T2 who not only want the action, but a solid and compelling story behind it. If we learned anything from Star Wars I - III it’s that effects don’t mean dick without a good story or intriguing characters… and it really won’t mean dick if we have to face a robotic Jar-Jar Binks who can only kill by annoying everyone!

“As governor of California, I order you to make this better than ‘Attack of the Clones.’ Don’t make me legislate your ass!”

As always, when T4 (and “The Sarah Conner Chronicles”) is released we will have a review of it. Hopefully, it will be worth watching to write a review.

Hopefully, logic will prevail and machines from the future will be sent back in time to stop this movie being made.

And Michael Biehn will refuse to be sent back to avert this :P.

Is he really going to do another film and be governor at the same time?
That would be seriously impressive as they are both pretty demanding jobs.
Also what the hell is wrong with T3?!!?!

It is wrong because it was not made by James Francis Cameron (T,T2) T3 lost this dark cyberpunkish climate… hope T4 will be as good as T & T2

I watched the pilot for “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” (Connor has two Os) last night, and while I may have been biased because of the surprise presence of Summer Glau (from firefly) I actually quite enjoyed it. It seems like a rehash of terminator 2, but since it’s got a bit more then two hours to tell its story I’m left wondering what’s next. Anticipating actually. So despite its beginnings being so blaintly … stolen. It told its story (which takes place a few years after t2) quite well and didn’t bother with extremely flashy graphics. Both pluses in my book.

The characters are sort of simple but back to the way I remember them from T2. Except flashier, While (looking this up..) Lena Headey does justice to Sarah Connor playing a strong paranoid emotionally wrought woman who has to protect the human race though her son, she was definitely cast for the way she looks in a miniskirt too.

For a pilot it did good, but I want to see more before I pass judgment, it still could go either way as they’ve burned though the stolen t2 plot and ended it with a very good premise for a series.

Looks like Lena Headey was the queen in “300″. That makes a bit of sense to me.

Oh GAAAWWDDD NOOOO.

Those marketing dickheads are out there.
They can’t be bargained with, they can’t be reasoned with. They don’t feel pity or remorse or fear and they absolutely will not stop.
Ever! Until the franchise is dead.

Well, I hope t4 will be the missing link between 1 and 3 to get the whole story of the human/machine war. Time is right for a good robo animation, like transformers.

First: I hope T4 shows the year 2029. I want 2 hours of war and post-nuclear ruins!
Second: With CGI you can put the face of Schwarzenegger over the T-800 chassis.
Third: If the movie dont play in the year 2029 so FUCK IT!

Sincerely yours,

I hope Summer Glau makes an appearance in T4, even if she’s not the main terminator that’s ok. I think she’s really doing a good job in Sarah Connor Chronicles as the good terminator.

Have you heard? They are getting McG to direct this new atrocity… I dont have anything against the guy I liked the OC but they are going to introduce the T-600 which is supposed to be a big 8ft tall son of a bitchin big ass robot that is in the shape of a human, but the damn thing isnt going to blend in. that was the whole point of the goddamned terminators in the first place… why would it be humanoid otherwise…. STUPID!!!! and besides, they talked about the T-600 as far back as the first movie, remember “it had rubber skin so they were easy to spot.” They even had a T-600 (what it was supposed to be in the 1st movie) in the tv show. I thought that was kinda cool. Even though the tv show sometimes breaks its breaks its own rules, like in season 2 episode 2 when the guy gets shot in mid time transport… nothing dead can go thrue so how da fuck did he get the bullet to go thrue so it could hit him right when he materialised… anyway, T3 was a worthless piece of shit, terrible terrible cartoon man. and from what Ive read so is this Terminator 4…. At least thats how it appears. Someone find McG’s email and let him know what a T-600 is so he doesnt ruin the fuckin story worse than it was already butchered.

Hey, Illusive Mind, exactly what are the marketing dickheads doing wrong? I have my ideas but I prefer to hear yours.

Y’know I didn’t actually know anything about the movie when I wrote that. My hopes were rekindled upon finding out Christian Bale was starring in it, and while I really hope and wish the movie works and saves the franchises I secretly think it is going to take another dump on the Terminator 2 legacy, though nowhere near as big as a dump as T3 was.

My problem is if you look at the current trailer.
http://www.apple.com/trailers/wb/terminatorsalvation/

The special effects look cool, but the narration and the editing doesn’t knock it out of the park. It is so easy to make even the worst films look good with a good trailer, if they can’t get that right, I don’t have high hopes for the film. It will be an action thrill ride with little to no philosophical and character underpinnings that made T2 great.
