Based on the novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, this 1976 production is a real period piece. 70's aesthetics abound in the sets, costume design, and music. Michael York stars as a "runner", someone who reaches the "retirement" age of 21, but refuses to "retire" (read: die). It's a SF action/thriller not without its merits. Also inspired a short-lived TV series and the role-playing game "Paranoia."
