Renaissance, Page 2: More Screencaps

Here are some more Renaissance screencaps for you

Renaissance screen capture

Renaissance has a number of interesting FX shots. Here, fire is burning down the building in the background.

Renaissance screen capture

Another window shot. Windows are usually used to highlight grays.

Renaissance screen capture

Here’s the first of a sequence of 4 screencaps of Bislane to show how the B&W contrast in a scene quickly changes.

Renaissance screen capture

This takes place in a night club, with lots of flashing lights. The switching from a black to white background and character works wonderfully for this in live animation.

Renaissance screen capture

While each individual shot doesn’t have lots of detail, in putting them all together, you get significantly more detail than you’d think given the use of only two colors.

Renaissance screen capture

Notice the new detail in the bqack of the bar.

Renaissance screen capture

The last shot in this sequence - the scene continues obviously. Mostly Bislane’s dancing in this scene.

Renaissance screen capture

Here’s a sequence of shots of Dellenbach’s office, which is dead set in the middle of the Avalon building. Notice the transparent walls.

Renaissance screen capture

Here’s the same office, as the camera pans out.

Renaissance screen capture

The same office, still panning out, but now you see it in the middle of the larger Avalon Corporation building.

Renaissance screen capture

Same office again, this time from below.

Renaissance screen capture

The Avalon goons in Jin-Roh style garb have the ability to turn translucent.

Renaissance screen capture

Here’s a shot of the Jin-Roh dudes while they are invisible. This approach seems rather simple, but some of the CG elements on top of the animation really help to flesh out the goons.

Renaissance screen capture

his shot of Jonas could easily be right out of the pages of a Sin City graphic novel.

Renaissance screen capture

Here’s the Police Chief, with Karas’ reflection in the background.

Renaissance screen capture

This is a scene of Bislane sneaking into the Avalon Datastore.

Renaissance screen capture

Karas is watching Bislane from his car.

Renaissance screen capture

This close-up appears more rendered than most scenes.

Renaissance screen capture

Gunfighting is definitely a big part of this movie.

Renaissance screen capture

I LOVE the shots in the tunnel. The CG lighting elements really seem magical there.

Renaissance screen capture

Here’s a nice tunnel shot.

Renaissance screen capture

This chick is fun - a hologram that notices people.

Renaissance screen capture

The lines are continually going across her body.

Renaissance screen capture

Here, she floats outside the nightclub.

I remember seeing this on DVD about 6+ months ago. I rented it from the local Blockbuster of all places. There was one blatant reference to Blade Runner during the course of the picture. The story line was very much in the cyberpunk style of the Noir picture. If I can find it again to own on DVD I’ll definitely put this into my collection.

Great toon, great plot, very realistic future of mankind. A lot of these technologies have been tested already including invisible suits(was in the Army, I know). The only thing I see missing in our future were the grand sewer undergrounds or the grand building in that polluted world. I would love to have my own underground lair.
