Renaissance UK Release is August 4th

Renaissance screen capture

Good news for those in the UK - Vicky Chowney, a publicist representing OMG PLC, the company who did the motion capture for the French cyberpunk movie, Renaissance (directed by Christian Volckman), stopped by and mentioned that Renaissance opens in the UK on August the 4th. In bad news for the US, she confirms that the US release will follow later.

IMDB currently has the US release date for Renaissance listed as September 22. Hopefully they at least stick to that. But honestly, I don’t really understand the incremental release approach. I understand keeping a foreign SciFi flick away from the summer blockbusters, but the initial March 15th release date would have worked well for that purpose. Perhaps someone can shed light on this decision. Also, hopefully Vikki can line us up with an interview with OMG!

I do not understand why foreign movies are released incrementally either. Movies from the USA seem to be simultaniously released in several countries at once (not all, but a lot). I hope this movie is released no later than September at least.

Exciting news! Looks like they pulled off a brilliant English language cast, and a proper trailer is out! Daniel Craig, Jonathan Pryce, Ian Holm, Catherine McCormack… awesome! Check it out:

It’s in Flash format.

Saying that I’m very excited is an understatement. :)

I saw that, but I haven’t seen the complete cast until now (screw Craig, Pryce is da man! :)), and the trailer is with the English dub, and completely different than the trailer we saw before… I searched, but didn’t see it posted anywhere. If it was - I missed it.

That trailer was released before, but not in English :)

I should probably make a new post about this - thanks for finding it (hopefully I can find a larger version).

So when does this come to Montenegro?

ETM said:

Probably when I *censored* it from the… yeah. ;) Not much chance of this coming here any time soon… or ever.

I just noticed this piece - if you’d like me to organise an interview with OMG, I’d be more than happy to.

I’m back in the office on Wednesday 12th if you’d like to contact me then.

Not long now!

Its available on demand on my cable, but I also have it on my hard drive. I just haven’t been able to pay attention to it long enough to watch more than 20 min.

You know, I bought this film on DVD and it was a pretty decent purchase. A great voice case line-up, even though Sean Pertwee’s character didn’t get a whole lot of screentime. However, one thing I would like to point out is that I think the film is more biopunk than cyberpunk, though there are definitely elements of both. Despite that, it’s a somewhat unique watch, with some interesting visuals. Also, is it just me or was the casting of Jonathan Pryce an unusual one? He’s a remarkable actor, but I just didn’t think that his voice accompanied the character too well.
